Mr. Michael Tucker, a Jamaican national, has been serving as the Executive Director of the National Council on Drug Abuse since 1995. With a Bachelor's degree in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University School of Business and Entrepreneurship, he brings a strong educational foundation to his role. Mr. Tucker holds over 28 years of dedicated service, making him one of the longest-serving Directors for a Drug Council in the region. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in initiatives related to drug demand reduction and regional cooperation, holding significant positions in various organizations.
As the Executive Director of the National Council on Drug Abuse, Mr. Tucker oversees the efficient and effective operation of the Drug Abuse Secretariat. His responsibilities include leading programs focused on public education, community involvement, research and development, legal reform, security measures, health and medical measures, and international cooperation in preventing drug abuse. He plays a crucial role in implementing government policies concerning drug use and abuse. Mr. Tucker's expertise has also extended to providing assistance to other countries in the region, helping them establish appropriate organizational structures, offering staff training, and optimizing program delivery based on available resources. Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Tucker serves as a Justice of the Peace for Kingston and remains actively engaged in the Kiwanis Club of Kingston, where he has previously held the position of President.
